Anti-Oil Troll Turns Out To Be Oil Millionaire

A prominent member of the Just Stop Oil group has been revealed to have a nice little nest egg of over $1 million from his 30-year career in Shell.

Grahame Buss worked as a principal scientist for the supermajor, which he said he hoped would go into administration.

It’s not hypocrisy if we do it

Honestly, this should come as no surprise.

The radical activist group receives money from oil fortune heirs in the U.S. and has zero problems with that.

Their fellow radicals from Extinction Rebellion feature a founder who clearly has mental issues and another who drives a diesel 4x4.

Basically, a former Shell employee with more than a million dollars in retirement money who rejoices at the disruption of the Shell AGM this year is non-news.

Neither is Spain’s energy minister arriving at a climate event by private jet, switching to a car, and then, for the final few hundred feet, jumping on a bicycle because…

… it’s sustainable somehow.

The more you look, the more ridiculous it becomes

There is virtually no prominent climate change advocate that does not have a higher carbon footprint than regular folk.

Think about Bill Gates and his defense that his private jet trips are justified because he gives money for net zero.

Or John Kerry, who used pretty much the same defense.

He added the twist that he wouldn’t be able to campaign for net zero if he didn’t fly private.

Cool, right?

Or Antonio Guterres, who likes so much to berate the oil and gas industry for being evil from the comfort of his private jet.

Actually, private jets are being singled out unfairly.

Whatever mode of travel these people use that is not walking, they are hypocrites.

Ditto all the activists with their synthetic clothes and plastic jewelry.

They just don’t think about what they’re going to wear if we start “keeping it in the ground.”

Yes, It Is Irresponsible To Stop Producing Oil

Shell’s chief executive this month enraged many by stating in no uncertain terms that a halt to oil and gas production would be irresponsible.

He also called it dangerous since the global economy depends entirely on hydrocarbons.

And that includes so-called rEnEwAbLeS, too.

It’s not an addiction. It’s a vital need.

“The reality is, the energy system of today continues to desperately need oil and gas,” Wael Sawan said.

“I think what would be dangerous and irresponsible is actually cutting out the oil and gas production so that the cost of living — as we saw just last year — starts to shoot up again.”

Obviously, he got immediately attacked by a UN climate official, who said it was Sawan’s comments that were irresponsible.

That’s what you do when you can’t argue with facts – you strike at the one who tells you what the facts are.

It was about time Big Oil quit its guilt-trip-induced silence and struck back.

Expect a major doubling down on net zero

A lot of people refuse to look facts in the face if they’re inconvenient.

There’s hardly anything more inconvenient that the fact all of the net-zero preachers are heavy users of fossil fuels.

Just think about it, with the amount of traveling UN climate officials do, their oil and gas consumption is way higher than yours or mine.

And that’s why they’ll double down on the calls for an end to the oil and gas industry.

Even if they know perfectly well, it’s impossible.

Or maybe they really believe it is possible, in which case we’re all in for some interesting times.
